Doug Himmel

Doug Himmel is a Co-Founder and Managing Director of Melville Capital in Los Angeles and is President of Melville Capital Structured Products Group, LLC (“MCSPG”) overseeing the Firm’s Business Development, Marketing, Brand Building and PR focus.

For almost 25 years, Doug has been involved in the financial services, lending and life insurance. He holds his series 7 and 63 licenses, is licensed as a Life Agent/Life Settlement Broker in numerous states and as a CA Real Estate Broker.

Robert Gatti

Robert is an experienced financial executive with strong knowledge of global capital markets. Over his career, Mr. Gatti held various executive positions at Cantor Fitzgerald, HSBC, Citigroup; and JP Morgan Chase prior to becoming the CEO of LPG Ltd.; a vertically integrated investment advisor, providing origination, structuring and advisory services institutional clients in the longevity linked asset market space. LPG was responsible for placing over $500MM of longevity exposure.

Over his career, Mr. Gatti has placed over $1 Billion in life contingent assets through a variety of investors and structures. Currently, Mr. Gatti, a principal of Life Policy Traders, Inc., a life settlement provider and is the founder and President of Wharton Advisors Corp, providing investors structuring, origination and portfolio management services. Wharton has successfully raised assets to launch a Luxenberg based longevity fund and currently advises several clients on capital market, investment opportunities, asset management and servicing.

Jack Kelly

John A. Kelly‚ a Partner in the McPherson Group‚ LLP. Mr. Kelly is a highly regarded adviser on the management of public policy risk to national and multinational corporations. Previously‚ he has served as a political aide to two U.S. President’s‚ served in staff positions with Congress and in the New York and Federal courts. For 28 years until his retirement‚ Mr. Kelly served in active and reserve components of the United States Army and he was the commander of a Special Forces unit. His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit. From 2004 until 2018 he served as a member and Chairman of the U.S. Advisory Committee on National Cemeteries and Memorials. Presently, he serves as member of the U.S. Advisory Committee for Arlington National Cemetery and is a member of the Board of the Army Distaff Foundation and the Advisory Council on Graduate Studies and Research for the University of Notre Dame. An avid runner he has successfully completed a number of marathons including the New York‚ Marine Corps and Boston marathons.

Jule Rousseau

Jule Rousseau, partner, Arent Fox. Jule has developed extensive knowledge in the Life Settlements business and with premium finance structures used in the purchase of life insurance. He represents clients in all facets of this business – policyholders, lenders, life settlement brokers, and providers and hedge funds providing capital to the industry Jule will lead our panel discussion on Due Diligence.

Daniel Goldberg

Daniel Goldberg, partner and co-founder of New York-based litigation boutique Holwell Shuster & Goldberg, has litigated high-stakes commercial disputes for nearly 25 years in a trial practice of national and international scope. He is frequently called upon to parachute into commercial cases for purposes of trial or other critical phases, and to take on matters presenting particularly novel and difficult issues. He currently represents, for example, Alberta’s government-owned investment fund AIMCo in a series of cases against insurers arising out of improper cost of insurance rate increases on certain groups of universal life insurance policies. He also is called on regularly to represent foreign sovereigns and domestic state entities in financial and other high-impact disputes.

He was recently named one of 30 Litigation Trailblazers by The National Law Journal, and has been recognized as a top litigator by Benchmark Litigation for several years. Before co-founding HSG, he was a litigation partner at White & Case and then at Kasowitz, Benson.

Jonah Kahn

Jonah Kahn is co-founder of Evergreen Settlements, a leading life settlement brokerage firm formed in early 2016. Jonah is a 15-year veteran of the life settlement industry where, prior to founding Evergreen, he was instrumental in helping to build out origination channels for one of the market’s largest providers. He has been a strong advocate for the Secondary Market, promoting education and awareness throughout the United States to financial planning firms, wealth managers, attorneys, CPAs, trustees and other trusted advisors, as well as consumers.

Jon B. Mendelsohn

Jon B. Mendelsohn is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ashar Group, LLC, a nationally licensed firm specializing in the Secondary and Tertiary markets. He has championed industry driven strategies to encourage innovation across the company’s businesses channels. Under his leadership, the Ashar team maintains their focus to provide an exceptional client experience. Deliberate decision-making has resulted in establishing national partnerships, collaboration, and the integration of Secondary Market solutions that deliver true value to Ashar’s partners and clients.

Micah Bloomfield

Micah Bloomfield is a trusted advisor to insurance companies, funds, investment banks and creditor groups. His practice focuses on the taxation of financial products, including reinsurance transactions, derivatives, asset-backed securities, real estate investment trusts and structured notes.

He has extensive experience with cross-border tax treaties and the tax aspects of modified coinsurance, hedge funds, private equity funds and funds-withheld reinsurance transactions, including those based on regulation XXX, segregated accounts and bankruptcy reorganizations.

Traci Davis

Traci has over 30 years of life and life settlement underwriting experience. As a highly-credentialed professional underwriter Traci has trained, developed and managed skilled underwriting teams in both the life insurance and life settlement industries throughout her career. She is a past-President and a current Board member of the AHOU, a nationally-recognized expert in electronic health records (“EHR”) and head of ISC’s Underwriting Division. Traci oversees all aspects of the ISC underwriting operation and leads the process of continual improvement in ISC’s life underwriting and life expectancy assessment initiatives.
